"I quickly learned the hard way ..."

"I was fortunate enough in that I grew up with a great lawn which my Dad always kept in fantastic shape.  This left such a lasting impression on me that I had always said that when I got my own house it had to have a big yard. A few years ago that dream came true and I was lucky enough to get a fixer upper with about 10,000 sq feet of yardage, then reality struck. As a kid I never knew what it took to create (and maintain) a great lawn.  I quickly learned the hard way with this new property.  What with aeration, hydration, fertilizers, herbicides, Fungicides, creating the right pH balance (bi-annual lime applications because of many huge spruce and pine trees on the property) the overseeding, the treatments of diseases and lawn fungus etc etc was hugely expensive and a LOT of work.

However I did that for about five years and was able to create a pretty nice looking lawn.  Try as I might though, I’ve always had an area where grass was patchy at best.  It was a spot on a slope so water retention/hydration was a problem because of water run off. Tried several products (Air8 Liquid Aeration, Hydretain etc) but try as I might, nothing gave me consistent results. So here I was, with this pretty great looking lawn with this one relatively small area (about 300sq’) that was a real eyesore. Well, two years ago a friend referred me to Colin and for a fraction of the cost of the hydration products that I was using on this area every year, treated it and made it look just like the rest of the lawn. So I’m saving money and having success without the frustration of years past. Win, win for me."  Stuart Petersen. Scarborough, Ontario.
